i see what you mean steve what my crash diet is that i would eat a small bowl of cereal in the morning and then wait until i get out of school(4:00) then exercise then
eat is that a horrblie way to lose weight?
Hey steve I think im on the verge of going onto a crash diet. I was just wondering if increasing my daily caloric intake (by say 50-150 Kcals) whilst still doing daily cardio will have any effect on my figure.
I currently run 60 mins everyday, but I would like to have flexibility in my diet.
I have heard of crash dieters who put on all their weight (plus more) that they lost in a short space of time. I really don’t want to fall into this trap as I enjoy being slimmer. Thanks Steve
Yes. 1) No more protein shakes. You don’t need them and it’s extra calories. 2) You have to be more consistent with your eating, either eating healthier or controlling the quantity. 3) Time to start doing 30 minutes of cardio (walking & jogging) 5 times a week. That will speed up your metaboilsm.
Steve, im 230, 17, and currently dieting. I stick to about 500 calories a day at school, and a grilled meat at home w/ a protein shake. I always take N.O. Explode before workout. My question is, is their a way to increase motabilism (spelled wrong). I dont call my self the best eater cuz im not. Some fruits and vegetables once in a while. Is their anything i can do?
theres a difference between crash dieting and a 500 calorie deficit guys..by crash dieting he means starving yourself pretty much. 500 calorie deficit per day is very good if you want to lose weight. thats 1 pound of fat loss per week.
He is right, crash diet would be having a 500 or higher calorie deficit, i’m having a 500 calorie deficit right now, and i’m in the edge of mantaining muscle, but i know that if i eat a few less i will lose muscle… i recommend you to take “glutamine” as you are in a diet plan, and eat protein, 3 portions of complex carbs, good fats, and vitamins and minerals during the day. Optimum nutrition whey proteins brings “glutamine”, that helps not losing muscle as you are eating less and working out.
You are right, but wrong… See, when you are in a “calorie deficit” you use fat as source of energy, but if you have a BIG calorie deficit your muscles will be in a catabolic state, they will feel weak and they will start to get tinier, so if you are in a bigger calorie deficit than 500 calories…i bet you will go losing muscle during the days(im not a “biologist”, but a natural bodybuilder, who has experienced this in real life, not in books) the man is right, you have to feed your muscles
you may have increased in strength but the question is did your body get toned or are you a skinny fat guy? Doubt I’ll get a reply since your post is a year ago.
You can lose a lot of muscle but it depends on how long you go without eating. When anorexics die they typically still have 10-15 pounds of fat on them. They die from heart failure because of lack of nutrients.
is there such a thing as a muscle-loss threshold
like you can only lose up to a certain amount of muscle mass, even if you crash diet
or can you lose all of it - muscles on top, skeletal muscles and so on?
always been wondering that and you seem to know what youre talking about
hey…. fat is the second main source of energy… when your body does not take in carbs or sugar as a main source of energy it dissolves ur fats, making it as an alternative,,, protien on the muscles on the other hand is the 3rd main source of energy, which means i only dissolves ur muscles if u have no more fat left.. i’m a biologist so dont argue with me…
It makes perfect sense, however I started Mid december losing weight, cutting back my caloric intake to around 600 a day, and also spending 1.5-2 hours a day, 6 days a week at the gym. I am around 6′, and went from 230lbs to 158, and increased in strength. I guess the time at the gym compensated for the caloric deprivation.

I’m not sure what you’re asking. Are you asking me if you should crash diet or are you saying you think you eat too little?
